Ukraine: Volodymyr Zelensky signs a law "on virtual assets"

President Volodymyr Zelensky today signed the “virtual assets” law adopted by the Ukrainian parliament on February 17.

This law notably determines the legal status of digital assets and designates the market regulators: the National Bank of Ukraine and the National Securities and Stock Market Commission. It also establishes the registration requirements for providers of digital assets.

“For almost two years, our Ministry of Digital Transformation has been working on developing a legal framework for companies in the crypto sector. Today, crypto plays a vital role in Ukraine’s defense process by helping to raise awareness and engage people around the world […]. The signing of this law by the President is an important step to bring the crypto sector out of the shadows and launch a legal market for virtual assets in Ukraine. – Alex Bornyakov , Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
